This activity has helped me build a mental model and acts as an accountability note. I think you should do it too.

When I sat down to write this I couldn’t figure out where to start from so let me follow the same structure which always works. (wink)

Triangle Year | (4x3 = 12) — this is a framework which I often follow. I prefer measuring in sub-year intervals, such as a 4-month timeframe.

WIP (Work In Progress)

– January to April 2023

During this time I was working relentlessly with zero amount of sleep at Sprinklr, it will always be one of the most challenging projects in my list — which demands a hell lot of my cognitive capital, but with my team of 3 we won every task in style. Big s/o the Chaithanya Kashyap & Raghavendra Sheshachandra best colleague i had a chance to work with and also the most humble human being, working with a small team and winning it all was the best part during the time Shipping features on Friday late night deployments was fun and worth it.

thought* During these 4 months I was working long hours and just perfecting my craft, rest everything else was cornerstone.

IRL > URL (In real life experience is greater than online experiences)

– May to August 2023

This was the period when I realized I was burned out, not because of the work but due to not taking a break. It was something I used to take pride in, but I realized it was a mistake. The cost I paid was getting burned out, which made me realize that I needed to GTFO of this zone. I eventually decided to move to Bangalore and join Rocketium.

I always reflect back on Paul Graham essay Cities and Ambitions. The best part about moving to Bangalore is that it’s a city where you can find your tribe no matter where you belong or what you do you can find people. Maybe the Internet will change things further. Maybe one day the most important community you belong to will be a virtual one, and it won’t matter where you live physically. But I wouldn’t bet on it. The tangible world possesses significant bandwidth and cities communicate messages in subtle ways. I love Bangalore.

DIY (Do It Yourself)

– September to December 2023

This was a period when most of my activities revolved around DIY. The most rewarding aspect was the hands-on learning experience — figuring things out on the fly. The fun part of working in a startup is the opportunity to collaborate with a small group of people deeply committed to an idea poised to change the world. I encountered some of the most creative and ambitious individuals who genuinely love what they do, and Nafees Khan is one of them. Every time I sat next to him to discuss our product or explore creative ideas, I returned with a solution.

That’s why Friday evenings were the best part of the workweek; we would sit and explore new ideas.

Amidst the juggling act of work and life, I implemented the ‘1$ Theory.’ It’s a meaningful lesson that has always lingered in my subconscious, and during this time, I had the chance to experience it.

a quote from Casey Neistat, ‘If you wouldn’t do it for $1, then don’t do it for $1 million.’

This philosophy was the driving force behind my decision to join a small startup, dedicating my efforts to work on something that not only aligns with my passions but also brings immense joy and fulfillment into my professional journey.

takeaway notes*

Find your Tribe : a group of people who challenge your idea & work on it to make it better each day.

IRL experience > URL : Look into people’s eyes more than you look into screens. (wink)

Money is the byproduct : Don’t worry about it too much, commit yourself to the act of service.
